Visit any notary public in Turkey with your identity card or passport. The notary drafts and certifies the power of attorney in Turkish.
At a Turkish Consulate
Turkish citizens and foreigners abroad can issue the power of attorney at a Turkish embassy or consulate. It can be used in Turkey directly.
Before a Foreign Notary
Sign before a local notary, then obtain an apostille — or legalisation by the local authorities and the Turkish consulate — and have it translated into Turkish.
What to Bring to the Notary
Requirements can vary slightly between notaries and consulates, so it is worth checking in advance. Bringing the documents on the right avoids a second visit.
Tip for company owners: if the power of attorney is drawn up on behalf of the company and in your own name, the lawyer can act for both, so you will not need to issue a second document later.

Can I give a power of attorney to a Turkish lawyer from abroad?
Yes. You can sign it at a Turkish embassy or consulate, or before a notary in your country. A power of attorney signed before a foreign notary must be certified with an apostille, or legalised by the competent authorities and the Turkish consulate if the country is not a party to the Apostille Convention, and then translated into Turkish.
What does the notary need from me?
A valid identity card or passport. Taxpayers, and foreigners in some cases, may also be asked for a tax number. For divorce and recognition cases, two passport photos and, if needed, a marriage certificate are required.
Why must the purpose be stated for divorce or recognition cases?
Some procedures, such as divorce and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, require the lawyer to hold a specific authority. The notary should be told clearly that the power of attorney is for a divorce or a recognition and enforcement case.
Can I issue one power of attorney for my company and for myself?
